Chinese 3 offers interested and capable students the opportunity to further develop their knowledge of Chinese culture and abilities to communicate in the Mandarin language.  Building on the foundations established in Chinese 1 and Chinese 2, students will expand vocabulary and ability to understand and use grammatical structures and patterns in oral and written communication.  Units are arranged to focus on practical, everyday topics and include important insights on Chinese culture and traditions.  Students will be expected to engage in extended conversations on simple, everyday topics and use the written language in producing coherent paragraphs, essays, and other forms of written communication.  Finally, the purpose of Chinese 3 (in conjunction with 1 and 2) is to prepare students to take AP and/or IB language courses in Chinese
